Tata Enterprise and infrastructure engineering company TRF Limited (NSE: TRF; BSE: 505854) announced its consolidated unaudited financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027 ended June 30, 2026.

The company recorded a substantial operational turnaround, swinging back to profitability after a sharp net loss in the preceding quarter, supported by solid top-line growth and disciplined cost management.

Income Architecture and Scaling Dynamics

TRF Limited witnessed robust momentum in project executions and material handling systems deliveries during the quarter:

Revenue from Operations: Logged at ₹2,603.20 lakhs for Q1 FY27, registering a healthy 11.2% growth year-on-year (YoY) compared to the ₹2,341.71 lakhs reported in Q1 FY26. Sequentially, core revenue expanded by 34.3% over the ₹1,938.56 lakhs achieved in Q4 FY26.

Other Income: Climbed 56.0% YoY to ₹589.48 lakhs, up from ₹377.99 lakhs, which further reinforced total inflows.

Total Income: Concluded the quarter at ₹3,192.69 lakhs, up 17.4% YoY from ₹2,719.70 lakhs.

Turnaround in Profitability and Earnings Value

The primary highlight of the quarter was TRF's return to a positive bottom-line after a difficult end to the previous fiscal year:

Net Profit for the Period: Registered at ₹187.65 lakhs for Q1 FY27. This represents a complete sequential recovery from the heavy net loss of ₹690.81 lakhs logged in Q4 FY26. On a YoY basis, net profit decreased by 46.5% compared to the ₹350.59 lakhs recorded in Q1 FY26, primarily due to higher operational expenditures and finance costs during the current period.

Total Comprehensive Income: Concluded at ₹150.33 lakhs after accounting for a negative net-of-tax adjustment of ₹37.32 lakhs under other comprehensive income.

Earnings Per Share (EPS): Basic and diluted EPS (not annualized) recovered to ₹1.71 per share (face value of ₹10 each) from a negative ₹6.28 per share in Q4 FY26, compared to ₹3.19 per share in Q1 FY26.

Operational Expenditure and Resource Consumption

TRF's total expenses remained tightly controlled sequentially, dropping slightly to ₹3,005.04 lakhs from ₹3,040.95 lakhs in Q4 FY26, even on a much higher revenue base. However, expenses rose by 26.8% YoY from ₹2,369.11 lakhs:

Raw Materials & Services: Cost of raw materials consumed was ₹683.89 lakhs, while cost of services consumed stood at ₹124.03 lakhs. The company offset a notable portion of raw input costs through an inventory adjustment gain of minus ₹288.41 lakhs in work-in-progress and contracts in progress.

Employee Benefit Expenses: Declined sequentially to ₹1,290.61 lakhs (down 11.9% from ₹1,465.10 lakhs in Q4 FY26) and was also lower YoY from ₹1,461.00 lakhs, showcasing targeted structural overhead corrections.

Finance Costs & Depreciation: Finance costs increased to ₹455.48 lakhs (up from ₹281.22 lakhs YoY), reflecting working capital needs, while depreciation remained flat at ₹79.64 lakhs.

Other Expenses: Managed down sequentially to ₹657.80 lakhs from the ₹939.84 lakhs posted in Q4 FY26.

Corporate Capital Framework

TRF Limited has maintained its paid-up equity share capital constant at ₹1,100.44 lakhs (composed of fully paid shares of face value ₹10 each). No exceptional items were reported during the quarter, and no current or deferred tax expenses were provisioned, leading to direct flow-through from PBT to Net Profit.

Shares of TRF Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs. 243.50 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 252.75. The total number of shares traded during the day was 4057 in over 109 trades.

The stock hit an intraday high of Rs. 255.00 and intraday low of 241.50. The net turnover during the day was Rs. 1015621.00.
