Dynacons Systems & Solutions Ltd has won one of the prestigious contract worth Rs.30.31 Crores for Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Software for Locomotive Asset Management (SLAM) from Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS).
Advantages of SLAM
The System for Locomotive Asset Management (SLAM) project is for management of Electric Locomotive for maintenance, operation, schedules planning & their execution, monitoring. This software system also envisages development of software for interlinking sheds (including out pits), divisional/Zonal headquarter, workshops, CLW, RDSO and Railway Board (Ministry of Railways). Besides management at loco sheds, it aims to provide a portal based custom built application module for providing specified functionalities to outside users including headquarters, divisions, Divisional and Headquarters power controllers (Traction Loco Controller), Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO), POH workshops, Chittranjan locomotive Works (CLW), and Railway Board (Ministry of Railways).
The solution components broadly include supply, installation, testing and commissioning of Software of SLAM with associated Hardware, Network, Thin clients, UPS, Printers, Kiosks. The scope of Contract broadly includes following activities:
- Supply, installation, testing & commissioning of production, T &D hardware for the Central Server in a virtualized environment at CRIS, New Delhi.
- Supply, installation, testing and commissioning of development hardware including PCs, printers, Kiosks and hand held terminals at Railways'177 locationsacross India.
- Supply, installation, testing & commission of production and development SLAM Pilot software for the central Server at CRIS.Implementation & establishment of successful access of the SLAM Application from remote locations over FOIS network/internet
- Installation, testing and commissioning of production and T&D servers. Deployment of the SLAM pilot application as per SLAM Rollout on the production servers.
- Gathering and porting of historical data at designated railway unit and master data. This activity involves collection of data, cleaning of data, validation of data, conversion of data in proper formats for loading, encoding / translating, correction, etc.
- Training to CRIS development team & CRIS users
- Total number of locations under this project are 177 including Sheds, Trip Sheds, SHO, ZHO, DHO, RDSO, Railway Board, CRIS.
Commenting on the development Mr. Parag Dalal, Executive Director of the Company, said "This is a marque win for Dynacons. The said project shall be highly beneficial to Railways, as this will enable smooth maintenance and preventive maintenance of locomotives and it can be done anywhere in India (not necessarily at their original loco shed). This feature can help benefit the Railways in huge savings of time and money.
