Government upgrades DD’s 84 LPT Relay Centres in last three Years

84 Doordarshan relay centres LPT of 100-watt power have been replaced by transmitters of higher power during 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07. Of these, 76 were replaced with 500 W LPT’s and eight with HPT’s. Year wise, the upgradation to 500 watt LPT was one, 39 and 36 during 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07 respectively. 4 LPT’s were upgraded to HPT in 2004-05 whereas two each were replaced in the last two years.

This information was given by Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri P. R. Dasmunsi in written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.
