Deccan Gold Mines enters into Strategic Partnerships with CSIR-CECRI and XTerra Global to Drive Critical Minerals Expansion

Deccan Gold Mines Limited (DGML) has announced two major strategic collaborations aimed at strengthening its technical and operational capabilities in the critical minerals and energy transition sectors. The company announced regarding new partnerships with CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CSIR-CECRI) and XTerra Global Resources Private Limited.

These agreements form a key pillar of Deccan Gold's overarching strategy to build a diversified, tech-led critical minerals enterprise encompassing mineral exploration, mining, processing, downstream value addition, and battery materials manufacturing.

1. Research Collaboration with CSIR-CECRI

Deccan Gold Mines has executed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Karaikudi-based CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CSIR-CECRI), a premier laboratory under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Government of India.

The MoU establishes a collaborative framework for scientific research and metallurgical technology development focusing on nickel processing and battery chemistry:

Nickel Extraction from Ni-PGE Ores: Conducting extraction, recovery, and characterization studies on Nickel-Platinum Group Element (Ni-PGE) bearing ores sourced from the Bhanwarpur Complex (Bhalukona).

Mozambique Lithium Processing: Evaluation, characterization, and metallurgical test work on lithium concentrates derived from Deccan Gold's overseas mining operations in Mozambique to develop viable beneficiation and value-addition technologies.

Process Development: Joint research into hydrometallurgical, beneficiation, and electrochemical technologies for high-purity nickel extraction.

Battery Tech R&D: Research and laboratory-scale cell fabrication for Nickel-Carbon (Ni-C) advanced battery materials and technologies.

The agreement is non-binding, valid for an initial period of two years, and serves as an umbrella framework to execute project-specific agreements as commercial opportunities materialize.

About CSIR-CECRI: Established in 1953 in Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, CSIR-CECRI is an internationally recognized institution specializing in electrochemical science, corrosion engineering, and energy storage systems. CECRI notably pioneered and commercialized India's first indigenous Lithium-Ion (Li-ion) battery fabrication technology.

2. Strategic Alliance with XTerra Global Resources

In a parallel development, Deccan Gold Mines has entered into a non-exclusive Strategic Alliance Agreement with XTerra Global Resources Private Limited.

This agreement creates a broad framework to identify and evaluate domestic and international opportunities across:

Critical mineral exploration and mining assets.

Mineral beneficiation and value-added processing technologies.

Downstream value-addition and battery material supply chains.

Strategic co-investments in energy transition mineral assets.

Similar to the CSIR-CECRI partnership, the arrangement with XTerra is valid for two years and acts as an umbrella structure under which project-specific definitive agreements will be executed.
