Apollo Micro Systems Bagged IAF Prototype Order for 500 Kg Smart Bomb Under Make-II Scheme

Defence electronic solutions provider Apollo Micro Systems Limited (AMS) has secured a Prototype Sanction Order (PSO) from the Indian Air Force (IAF) under the Ministry of Defence's Make-II category.

The empanelment enables Apollo Micro Systems to enter the precision-guided munition (PGM) segment as a Prime Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)-a high-value defense domain that has historically been reliant on foreign imports.

Project Scope & Technological Capabilities

Project Objective: Design, development, and prototype demonstration of an indigenous 500 Kg Smart Bomb.

Operational Performance: Designed to be released from standoff distances of 80 to 100 kilometers while achieving a circular error probable (CEP) within 3 meters of the targeted location.

IPREK Capability: Integrates the company's indigenous guidance and navigation kit (IPREK) to convert existing unguided conventional bomb inventory into precision-guided standoff weapons at a fraction of the cost of new imports.

NavIC Satellite Integration: Incorporates India's native satellite navigation constellation, NavIC (IRNSS), at its core, positioning the system among select global weapon platforms utilizing indigenous satellite positioning.

Under the operational guidelines of the Make-II defense procurement framework, prototype development carries no direct financial cost obligation on the Government of India during the development phase. However, the Ministry of Defence is committed to commercial procurement upon successful demonstration and validation of the prototype.
