Thirty two persons were injured when two engines and four coaches of Jodhpur-Howrah Express (2308Dn), which was on its way from Jodhpur to Howrah, derailed at Juhi yards, 8 kilometres form Kanpur station in Uttar Pradesh under Allahabad division of North Central Railway at about 12.25 PM today. All the 32 injured persons, out of which seven were grievously, were taken to Railway hospital and to civil hospitals at Hallot and Ursula in Kanpur.
Accident Relief Train along with Railway medical team reached the accident spot immediately. General Manager, North Central Railway and DRM Allahabad Division have also reached at the accident site from Allahabad. The Jodhpur-Howah Express with additional three coaches resumed its onward journey to Howrah. Railways have made on the spot payment of an ex-gratia of Rs. 5000/- for grievous injured persons and Rs. 500/- for those who received simple injuries in the derailment.. Shri R.K.Kardam, Commissioner Railway Safety, Northern Circle will conduct the enquiry into the accident. Normal traffic has been restored on this affected section.
