Dr. D. Subbarao assumes charge as Finance Secretary

Dr. Duvvuri Subbarao assumed the charge of Finance Secretary in the Ministry of Finance today. He has been holding the post of Secretary, Economic Affairs in the same Ministry from May 1, 2007. He belongs to IAS (AP cadre) and topped the Civil Services Exam 1972.
Dr. Subbarao has wide experience on issues in public finance and has held important posts in this area. He was lead Economist in the World Bank during 1999-2004 and worked on issues of public finance in countries of Africa and East Asia. Dr. Subbarao studied at IIT Kanpur and was one of the first IIT products to join the civil services.
