Depression crosses coast near Nagapattinam

The depression over southwest Bay of Bengal crossed Tamil Nadu coast near Nagapattinam between 1230 and 1330 hrs IST on the 16th November 2013.
Rainfall occurred at many places over North Coastal Tamil Nadu. Isolated rainfall occurred over rest Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Kerala. Dry weather prevailed over Telangana, Lakshadweep and Karnataka.
Chidambaram AWS (Cuddalore Dist) 7 cm, Karaikal (Karaikal Dist), Parangipettai (Cuddalore Dist) and Kollidam (Nagapattinam Dist) 5 cm each, Sirkali (Nagapattinam Dist), Neyveli AWS, Cuddalore and Chidambaram (all Cuddalore Dist) 4 cm each, Virudachalam and Sethiathope (both Cuddalore Dist), Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai (both Nagapattinam Dist) and Puducherry (Puducherry Dist) 3 cm each, Orthanad (Thanjavur Dist), Perambalur (Perambalur Dist), DGP office (Chennai Dist), Kodavasal (Tiruvarur Dist) and Jayamkondam (Ariyalur Dist) 2 cm each and Nannilam, Needamangalam, Valangaiman and Tiruvarur (all Tiruvarur Dist), Srimushnam, Panruti, Tozhudur and Kattumannarkoil (all Cuddalore Dist), Tirukoilur, Gingee, Vanur, Kallakurichi, Ulundurpet, Mylam AWS and Vilupuram (all Villupuram Dist), Tarangambadi (Nagapattinam Dist), Mahabalipuram (Kancheepuram Dist), Chennai(N) (Chennai Dist), Chennai AP (Kancheepuram Dist), Kumbakonam, Thiruvidaimaruthur and Papanasam (all Thanjavur Dist), Tiruchirappalli AP (Trichy Dist), Ariyalur (Ariyalur Dist), Venbavur (Perambalur Dist) and Ennore AWS (Tiruvallur Dist) 1 cm each.
Rain or thundershowers would occur at most places over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, North Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, at many places over South Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Rayalaseema and South interior Karnataka and at a few places over North coastal Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka and Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers may occur over Telangana and North interior Karnataka.
Heavy to very heavy rain at a few places with isolated extremely heavy rainfall would occur over North Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during next 24 hours. Heavy to very heavy rain would occur at a few places over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and isolated heavy rain would occur over South Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema during the same period.
