Gati Infrastructure Limited (GIL), a subsidiary of Amrit Jal Ventures Ltd (AJVL) promoted by Gati Ltd's Founder & CEO Mr. Mahendra Agarwal today undertook a tree plantation initiative by planting 756 sampling at their Chuzachan project site in Rongli, Sikkim. The Tree Plantation Drive aims at planting a total of 1 lakh saplings during this monsoon season. The saplings to be planted include fruits, flowers, ashoka, bamboo and broom. The plantation of trees will uphold the commitment the project has towards the protection and up gradation of the environment at the Chuzachan project.
The saplings would be planted in and around the Power House and on the borders of the project towards the road. All the samplings will be planted during the ensuing monsoon. One of the Gati Infrastructure Project Directors Ms. Meera Madhusudhan Singh daughter of late Shri Madhusudhan Singh (Director of Education, Government of Sikkim) belongs to the state of Sikkim and the power projects are a way of contributing towards the development of the state.
At Gati Infrastructure, every project includes a social commitment to contribute to the economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as of the local community and society at large. Based on the needs and priorities of the community specific community development programs have been formulated. They include Education, Self-Managed Rural Institutions, Health, Livelihood and Food Security, Capacity Building, Generation of Awareness and Sponsorships.
Gati Infrastructure had entered into an Agreement with the State Government of Sikkim to implement three Hydro Power Projects on a Build, Operate, Own and Transfer basis (BOOT). The first project – 110MW Chuzachen Hydro Project on Rangpo and Rongli rivers has been commissioned and started production. This is the first IPP (independent power project) in hydroelectric power sector in the state of Sikkim and the seven sisters of North East. The plant is directly connected to the Central Transmission Utility (National Grid) through a 24 Km dedicated transmission line and will be able to deliver power across the country. The formal project inauguration is scheduled in the month of September 2013.
