Canadian International School students outshines in IGCSE 2011 - 12 Exams

Students at the Canadian International School, Bangalore excelled at the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams which is conducted by the University of Cambridge International Examinations. In the academic year 2011 - 2012, CIS had a batch of 34 students taking IGCSE Exams. 28 of these students opted for the ICE group award, out of which 14 passed with Distinction, 12 passed with Merit and only a mere 2 Passed. In addition, we had more than 80% who had either A* or A in their subjects. The highest individual percentage this year is 93%. In 2010 - 2011, it was 89%, and in our first IGCSE year, 2009 - 2010, it was 84.5%, indicating a positive improvement pattern.

Continuing our trend of offering International Math and Additional Math in Grade 9/Grade 10, CIS had 13 Grade 9 students opting for International Mathematics. Last year one of our students of International Math, Kim Sung Jun, was top student in the All-India List. From the introduction of IGCSE in CIS from 2009, CIS has been growing from strength to strength with each passing year. The IGCSE exam is equivalent to SSC or ICSE Board exams held in the country. IGCSE offers a wider range of subjects and encourages high academic standards through a practical approach to teaching and learning.

"It really feels great to know that the effort we have put in has paid off. We are proud of our students, who have constantly worked hard to meet everyone's expectations. I wish to thank our teachers too for providing guidance and support to these children", adds Ms. Shweta Sastri, Executive Director - Canadian International School, Bangalore.
