Shiva Cement Limited, a subsidiary of JSW Cement Limited (part of the highly diversified JSW Group), has received a modified Environmental Clearance and Consent to Operate for its Khatkurbahal (North) Block Limestone and Dolomite Mines at Biringatoli, Kutra, in Sundargarh district, Odisha. This development expands the scope of the mine to include the mining of dolomite at a capacity of 2.4 million tonnes per annum. This block holds a total dolomite resource of 89.09 million tonnes, of which 48.27 million tonnes is mineable.
The approval enables the Company to commercially undertake mining and sale of dolomite from the block, marking the commencement of revenue generation from its dolomite operations. Dolomite is a key input across steel, cement, glass, refractories and allied industries, and the approval opens a new merchant sales stream for the Company while strengthening raw material security within the JSW ecosystem.
Commenting on this development, Mr. Manoj Kumar Rustagi, Whole-time Director & CEO of Shiva Cement said, "The expanded scope at Khatkurbahal (North) allows us to unlock significantly more value from a mineral resource we already operate. Being able to commercialise 2.4 million tonnes of dolomite a year - over and above our existing product slate - gives us a new revenue stream, deepens our presence in Odisha's mineral economy, and reinforces the raw material security that underpins our growth in eastern India. It is a good example of how disciplined resource utilisation, done within the framework of full environmental compliance, creates value for the business and for the region."
Shiva Cement has its clinker manufacturing facility strategically located at the geographical border of three Indian states - Odisha, Chhatisgarh and Jharkhand with close proximity to the raw materials required for the production. In FY26, Shiva Cement commissioned a stateof-the-art 1.0 MTPA cement grinding unit at Sambalpur in Odisha, vide a commercial arrangement with Bhushan Power and Steel Limited, with an objective of meeting the growing cement demand in the region.
