JioStar has announced its financial and operational updates for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27 (Q1 FY27). Demonstrating robust operational leverage despite challenging macroeconomic conditions, the business logged a 30.7% year-on-year (YoY) increase in operational EBITDA, driven by accelerated subscription revenue growth, strong digital ad monetization, and record engagement across its television and streaming networks.
Key Financial Highlights
For Q1 FY27, JioStar generated a Gross Revenue of ₹12,799 crore, reflecting a 14.1% YoY expansion compared to ₹11,222 crore recorded in Q1 FY26. Sequentially, gross revenue expanded sharply by 30.8% over the ₹9,784 crore posted in Q4 FY26.
Revenue from Operations: Clambered to ₹10,946 crore, up 14.0% YoY from ₹9,601 crore, propelled by a strong uptick in digital entertainment advertising and subscription streams.
EBITDA Operations: Reached ₹933 crore-a 30.7% YoY surge compared to ₹714 crore in Q1 FY26-underscoring operating efficiency playing out against core revenue growth.
Consolidated EBITDA: Stood at ₹1,049 crore (+3.1% YoY), buffered by an investment income of ₹116 crore (down 61.7% YoY from ₹303 crore). Operational EBITDA margin (on Revenue from Operations) registered at 9.6%.
Net Profit After Tax (PAT): Advanced 14.5% YoY to ₹665 crore, compared to ₹581 crore in Q1 FY26 and ₹419 crore in Q4 FY26.
Cost Controls: Finance costs fell significantly by 62.7% YoY to ₹44 crore (down from ₹118 crore in Q1 FY26), while depreciation stood at ₹338 crore and tax outlays came in at ₹2 crore.

Microcontent & AI Initiatives: The platform's microcontent hub, Tadka, crossed 100 million active users within two months of launch, with daily watch-time per viewer expanding 5 times. JioHotstar also debuted its first AI-generated micro-drama, 'Game on: 4,000 crore Empire', powered by its proprietary JAMS platform, alongside a Conversational Discovery feature built in partnership with ChatGPT.
