Punjab & Sind Bank has officially announced its reviewed unaudited financial results for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2026-27, ended June 30, 2026. The public sector lender delivered a resilient financial performance characterized by broad-based expansion across its credit segments, lower operational overheads, and a significant reduction in non-performing assets compared to the parallel baseline period of the previous fiscal year.
Top-Line Momentum and Earnings Expansion
For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, the bank's total income expanded by 4.91% year-on-year, scaling to ₹3,545 crore against the ₹3,379.09 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year. A primary catalyst for this top-line acceleration was the core Net Interest Income (NII), which logged a healthy year-on-year growth of 15.33%, climbing to ₹1,038 crore from ₹900 crore in Q1 FY26.
This improvement in core income directly translated into stronger baseline earnings. The bank's operating profit adjusted upward to ₹545 crore from ₹540 crore annually, reflecting a steady 0.93% expansion. More notably, net profit for the three-month period surged by 23.05% year-on-year, finishing at ₹331 crore compared to the ₹269 crore achieved in the previous year's parallel quarter.
Double-Digit Growth in Aggregate Business and Deposits
The bank's overall operational footprint expanded significantly, with its total business registration jumping 15.27% year-on-year to stand at ₹2,66,420 crore by the end of June 2026, up from ₹2,31,132 crore a year ago.
On the liability side, total deposits tracked a steady growth of 12.16% year-on-year, rising to ₹1,47,130 crore from ₹1,31,182 crore. This momentum was firmly anchored by the retail segment, where retail term deposits grew by 14.94% to reach ₹65,764 crore against ₹57,214 crore in the parallel quarter of the prior year.
Credit Mobilization Driven by the RAM Portfolio
Total advances posted a robust annual increase of 19.35%, scaling to ₹1,19,290 crore from the previous baseline of ₹99,950 crore. The standout driver of the bank's lending activities was its Retail, Agriculture, and MSME (RAM) portfolio. RAM advances registered a high-velocity growth of 32.66% year-on-year, moving to ₹71,597 crore from ₹53,970 crore. Due to this aggressive deployment, the share of RAM advances within the total credit mix increased by 602 basis points, moving up from 54.00% last year to a dominant 60.02% in Q1 FY27.
Disaggregated tracking within the RAM categories underscores uniform vertical growth:

MSME Advances: Expanded at a brisk pace of 32.71% year-on-year.
Agriculture Advances: Logged a solid volume growth of 25.85% over the prior year's baseline.

This brought the percentage of GNPA down by 113 basis points year-on-year to settle at 2.21% against 3.34% previously.
Net Non-Performing Assets (NNPA) mirrored this positive trend, contracting by 13.25% in absolute value to arrive at ₹766 crore compared to ₹883 crore annually. In percentage terms, NNPA compressed by 26 basis points to close at an optimal 0.65%, down from 0.91% in Q1 FY26.
