These activities, if undertaken in a systematic and timely manner would definitely give a boost to the Logistics sector in particular and economy in general, said Mr. Arya.
Connectivity of airports with railways will give a boost to the perishable goods sector. This will encourage the use of multi modal transportation and also encourage exports of vegetable and fruits.

Transportation of agricultural goods by means of railways will help to cut down the cost of basic vegetables and food supplies which will give a much needed boost to the economy, which is the need of the hour.
Coastal connectivity program will help to bring down the freight rates. Technology up gradation and introduction of services like bar coded / RFID tracking of parcels and freight wagons will definitely encourage more companies to use the mode of railways.
Mr. Arya welcomed the announcement by Railway Minister saying that the implementation of two dedicated freight corridor projects on Eastern and Western routes is gathering pace and his emphasis on growing annual freight carrying capacity from 1 billion to 1.5 billion tonnes.
