The Prime Minister has conveyed his felicitations to all those associated with the successful test launch of Agni-III Missile here today.
He called it, "an impressive illustration of the indigenous capacity developed by our scientists and technologists in mastering strategic high technologies essential for maintaining the nation’s defence and security".
The Defence Minister Shri AK Antony has congratulated the Defence Scientists on the successful flight-test of the Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile Agni-III from the Wheeler Island, off the coast of Orissa this morning.
Shri Antony spoke to the DRDO Chief Shri M Natarajan and the Mission Director Shri Avinash Chander over telephone and told them that the nation is proud of the achievement of the scientists. Shri Antony said what really gladdens his heart is that the scientists were not deterred by the partially unsuccessful test of Agni-III last year and put their heart and soul into making today’s test an unqualified success. He said today’s success also strengthens our view that the Indian Scientists have the ability to design and develop critical and strategic systems through indigenous efforts.
Shri Antony also stated that the country has matured in missile technology and is today at par with many other developed countries. He said, Agni - III has confirmed India’s strategic capability for minimum credible deterrence.
