VECV Reports 6.9% Sales Growth in April 2026 Driven by Domestic Truck Demand

VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), a joint venture between Eicher Motors and Volvo Group, has announced its sales results for April 2026, marking a steady start to the new financial year. The company recorded total sales of 7,318 units, representing a 6.9% increase compared to the 6,846 units sold in April 2025.

The growth was largely fueled by a strong performance in the domestic truck segments and a significant surge in Volvo-branded vehicle sales.

Domestic Performance: Trucks Lead the Way

Total domestic sales for Eicher Trucks and Buses rose by 8.6%, reaching 6,797 units. This growth was underpinned by robust demand in the cargo sector:

SCV/LMD Trucks (<18.5T): This segment saw the highest domestic volume, growing 17.9% to 3,243 units.

Heavy Duty (HD) Trucks (≥18.5T): Large-capacity trucks maintained strong momentum with a 14.9% increase, totaling 1,516 units.

Bus Segments: Both Light/Medium Duty (LMD) and Heavy Duty (HD) buses faced headwinds, declining by 2.5% and 61.7% respectively, reflecting a cooling period in domestic passenger transport procurement.

Volvo Trucks and Buses Outperform

The Volvo-branded segment showed exceptional strength, recording a 23.3% growth rate. Total sales for Volvo Trucks and Buses reached 159 units in April 2026, up from 129 units in the same month last year.

Export Trends and Challenges

VECV's export market experienced a contraction during the month, with total exports falling 21.3% to 362 units. While Heavy Duty exports saw a dramatic 173.7% spike (reaching 104 units), this was offset by a significant 74.2% drop in bus exports and a 24.2% decline in LMD truck exports.

Monthly and YTD Summary

As April marks the beginning of the 2026-27 fiscal year, the monthly figures also represent the year-to-date (YTD) performance:

Total Eicher Trucks & Buses: 7,159 units (+6.6%)

Total VECV (including Volvo & EVs): 7,318 units (+6.9%)

Overall, the data suggests that while the export and passenger carrier markets are navigating fluctuations, the core domestic cargo transport market remains a reliable engine for VECV's growth as the year commences.
