KMEW to execute Complex Rock Dredging Work at Jawaharlal Nehru Port for DCIL

Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Limited ("KMEW") (BSE: 543273) (NSE: KMEW) is proud to announce that we have been awarded a Work order from Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) for Rock Dredging (removal of pinnacles/ high spots) at Coastal Berth at JNPA and discharge of dredged material at DS-3 Dumping Ground. The said work order is valued at ₹ 58.39 Crores (Rupees Fifty-Eight Crores and Thirty-Nine Lakhs) including taxes and is to be completed within 90 days from the commencement of work.

The scope of the work order encompasses the removal of rock pinnacles and high spots at the Coastal Berth of Jawaharlal Nehru Port, followed by the disposal of the dredged material at the designated dumping ground, DS-3. This technically critical rock dredging assignment necessitates extensive pre-treatment and the execution of underwater controlled blasting, subsequent to high-precision drilling operations in rock formations exhibiting compressive strengths in excess of 170 megapascals. The operations will be carried out through an integrated deployment of advanced marine assets, including a dedicated drilling and blasting barge, trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHDs), a backhoe dredger, self-propelled hopper barges, and secured explosives storage facilities. KMEW has 60 days to mobilise the equipment and get all the requisite permissions before commencing the works.

Through meticulous planning and seamless mobilization, KMEW will execute the dredging of approximately 10,500 cubic meters of exceptionally hard rock material from water depths of up to 16 meters (at high-tide conditions) within a tightly compressed execution timeframe of 90 days. This undertaking further underscores the Company's proven capability to deliver complex subsea engineering projects under stringent schedule constraints.

The Company possesses a demonstrated track record of successfully executing and completing rock dredging works at Mangrol Fishing Harbour, reinforcing its technical credibility and operational competence in similarly challenging environments.

This work order stands as a testament to the confidence placed in KMEW's capabilities. The Company is comprehensively equipped to deliver the project within the stipulated timelines and will deploy vessels from its existing fleet, in addition to acquiring an additional vessel specifically for the execution of this assignment.

This contract award further consolidates KMEW's standing as a preferred partner in India's dredging and marine engineering sector and exemplifies its continued ability to deliver missioncritical infrastructure solutions at one of the nation's busiest and most strategically significant ports.

Commenting on the Work Order, Mr. Sujay Kewalramani, CEO of Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Ltd said that, "We are positioning ourselves as a comprehensive solution provider capable of executing the most technically demanding works within the port sector. This assignment has been attempted by several dredging contractors; however, it has largely remained unsuccessful due to its extraordinary complexity. The rock formation targeted for dredging is estimated to exhibit compressive strengths exceeding 170 megapascals, rendering it the most formidable geological stratum ever undertaken by the KMEW team. To address these challenges, we will engage the expertise of India's most eminent rock drilling and blasting specialists.

The scope of work necessitates the development of an exceptionally intricate underwater controlled blasting methodology, given its immediate proximity to critical port infrastructure. Upon successful execution, KMEW will have established unparalleled expertise in rock dredging across both shallow and deep-water environments, employing methodologies with or without pre-treatment, utilizing entirely in-house equipment. Our established credentials-underscored by the successful dredging of over 137,000 cubic meters of rock at Mangrol Fishing Harbour-instill strong confidence in our ability to deliver this project with the highest levels of precision, safety, and operational efficiency.

At KMEW, we remain steadfast in our commitment to operational excellence, disciplined project execution, and continuous innovation in marine engineering. This award further consolidates our standing as a trusted partner within India's dredging industry and reinforces our contribution to the advancement of the nation's maritime infrastructure."
