In a conscientious step toward ecological enhancement and community wellbeing, Brigade Foundation has launched a landmark tree planting drive. Titled "From Saplings to a Sanctuary: Planting 100,000 Trees for a Greener Tomorrow", this initiative, which takes root in Brigade Group's Urban Forest philosophy, was symbolically inaugurated by Shri. M B Patil, Hon. Minister for Large and Medium Industries & Infrastructure Development, Government of Karnataka in the presence of Shri M R Jaishankar, Lifetime Trustee, Brigade Foundation and Executive Chairman Brigade Enterprises Limited. These saplings will be planted in and around Brigade Group's project in Bengaluru's KIADB area, with the aim to reinforce these landscapes as thriving ecological reserves. Brigade Foundation has partnered with Bengaluru based Vanantara, an ecologically focused firm, to nurture the saplings to mature until they grow into resilient trees.
After planting a tree alongside other dignitaries, Shri. M B Patil, Hon. Minister for Large and Medium Industries & Infrastructure Development, Government of Karnataka, said, "Our Bengaluru has always been known as the Garden City. However, due to rapid urbanisation and industrialisation, that distinction has somewhat faded. Yet, through this initiative, Brigade Foundation has shown how to balance development with environmental responsibility. It has made a meaningful contribution to the very idea of the Garden City. Similarly, in Vijayapura, we have planted around 15million saplings since 2016. Everyone should undertake such efforts in their own regions. Usually, people expect someone else to come forward and do something good for the environment. But Brigade Group has demonstrated that protecting the environment is our own responsibility, something we must take up ourselves. My congratulations to the entire team."
Speaking at the event Shri. K.H. Muniyappa, Hon. Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Govt. of Karnataka said, "The Brigade Group has undertaken a significant and commendable initiative. It is very important to take care of the earth in a balanced manner. In this regard, it is essential for private companies to join hands with the government. The fact that the Brigade Group has carried out such a meaningful effort is truly commendable."
Speaking at the inauguration, Shri M R Jaishankar, Lifetime Trustee of Brigade Foundation, and Executive Chairman of Brigade Enterprises Limited said "Brigade Foundations focus has been on education, health and community development. But we also believe deeply that progress must go hand in hand with responsibility. This tree plantation drive is a natural extension of that belief. We believe that every sapling planted is an act of faith for the future and hence we have already planted one lakh trees across some of our properties in Bengaluru and Mysuru. We are proud to contribute to a greener, more resilient Bengaluru. We also congratulate the Government of Karnataka's initiative to plant around 15million trees for Vijayapura District and this encourages us at Brigade to increase our contribution beyond the 1lakh saplings we plant here today."
According to Varun Ravindra is the Founder and Chief Conservator, Vanantara, "Enhancing ecosystems at scale requires vision and patience, and this initiative is a testament to what can be done when urban development embraces ecological responsibility. These saplings will be nurtured into resilient trees that promote biodiversity, improve air and water quality, and reconnect communities with nature. Today marks the beginning of what is certain to be a lush forest in the years to come."
