Ashok Leyland Reports May 2025 Sales: Strong Growth in M&HCV Segment

Ashok Leyland Limited, a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer in India, has released its sales figures for May 2025, reflecting a positive trend in the Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) segment and steady overall performance.

Domestic Sales Performance

M&HCV Trucks: The company sold 7,466 units in May 2025, marking a robust 12% increase over May 2024, when 6,648 units were sold. Cumulatively for the fiscal year so far, sales reached 13,381 units, up 1% from 13,185 units last year.

M&HCV Buses: Sales stood at 1,920 units, a marginal 1% increase compared to 1,903 units in May 2024. However, cumulative sales declined by 14% to 3,411 units from 3,977 units in the previous year.

Total M&HCV: Combined, the M&HCV segment achieved 9,386 units in May 2025, up 10% year-on-year. Cumulative sales for the segment saw a slight dip of 2% to 16,792 units.

LCV (Light Commercial Vehicles): LCV sales reached 5,148 units, a 3% decrease from 5,301 units in May 2024. Cumulative LCV sales, however, edged up 1% to 10,251 units.

Total Vehicles (Domestic): Overall, Ashok Leyland sold 14,534 vehicles domestically in May 2025, a 5% growth from 13,852 units last year. Cumulative sales for the fiscal year stood at 27,043 units, down 1% from 27,298 units in the previous year.

Domestic + Exports Performance

M&HCV Trucks: Including exports, sales rose to 7,606 units in May 2025, a 12% increase over May 2024. Cumulative sales reached 13,725 units, up 1%.

M&HCV Buses: The segment saw 2,676 units sold, a 9% increase year-on-year. Cumulative sales, however, declined by 7% to 4,517 units.

Total M&HCV: Combined sales (domestic and exports) for May 2025 were 10,282 units, up 11% from 9,243 units last year. Cumulative sales saw a marginal decrease of 1% to 18,242 units.

LCV: Including exports, LCV sales were 5,202 units in May 2025, a 4% decline from the previous year. Cumulative sales increased slightly by 1% to 10,663 units.

Total Vehicles (Domestic + Exports): Ashok Leyland's total sales, including exports, reached 15,484 units in May 2025, a 5% increase over 14,682 units last year. Cumulative sales for the fiscal year were 28,905 units, nearly flat compared to 28,953 units in the previous year.

The M&HCV segment remains the primary driver of growth, especially in the truck category, both domestically and in combined markets. LCV sales saw a slight dip for the month but maintained positive momentum cumulatively. Bus sales showed modest month-on-month growth but faced pressure cumulatively, particularly in the domestic market.

Overall, Ashok Leyland reported a healthy 5% year-on-year growth in total vehicle sales for May 2025, with cumulative figures remaining stable.

Shares of Ashok Leyland Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs. 236.00 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 240.65. The total number of shares traded during the day was 297281 in over 3021 trades.
