Lanco Consortium had won the bid for Sansan UMPP through a Competitive bidding process in December 2006, Subsequently, after deliberations for seven months, the Government of India has taken a decision to cancel the award to the consortium Lanco believes that it has made a fair bid for the project and therefore does not agree with the Government's view. In this regard, However, taking into consideration the larger interests of the public, LANCO humbly respects the decision of the Governments.
- Lanco has played a leadership role in setting a competitive tariff benchmark for the sector. Lanco's Rs 1.196 per unit tariff benchmark bid for the 4,000 MW Sasan UMPP and the tariff benchmark bid for the 1000 MW Anpara 'C' project in Uttar Pradesh would usher in competitive tariffs into the power sector in future, benefiting the consumers and the notion.
- The Government has targeted to add about 75,000 MW in the XI Plan period (FY2008-2012) Lanco believes that there is a huge opportunity in the power sector and it is well positioned to successfully participate in tit opportunity, given our innovative and competitive strategy. Lanco is committed to support the initiatives of the Government for increasing the power generation capacity in India at competitive tariffs.
- Lanco is operating and developing various power projects based on Coal, Gas, Hydro, Bio-Mass and Wind, across India, aggregating to over 4000 MW.
Lanco's power would reach out to various states including Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradash, Maharashtra, Orissa, Punjab, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu and Uttaranchal.
Lanco's power trading arm is the largest power trading Company in the private sector having traded 600 million units in the first quarter of fiscal 2008, thus bridging a part of the demand / supply gap across the country and also supporting the Government's initiatives.
