Surana Industries Ltd on May 11, 2007, has announced that it has finalised the contract for sum of Rs 58 crores for Boilers, ESP & Turbine for 35 MW Captive Power Plant for the New Integrated Steel Plant in Raichur, Karnataka. The Company has placed order of Rs 36 crore to Cethar Vessels (P) Ltd, Trichy for Boilers, Rs 14 crores to Qingdao Jieneng Power station Engineering co. Ltd, China and Associated Power Team Pvt Ltd., Hyderabad for Turbine and Rs 8 crores to Thermax Ltd, Pune for ESP.
Through this contract Cethar Vessels will install Design Engineering, Manufacture, Assembly, Erection, startup, Testing, Commissioning and Guarantee performance Testing of (1) No. of 110 TPH,66 ksca,495 + 5 deg C Fluidised Bed Combustion Boiler and its auxiliaries and four (4) Nos of 10.5 TPH,68 ksca,495 + 5 C waste heat Recovery boiler and auxiliaries.
Qingdao Jieneng Power station Engineering Co, Ltd, china and Associated Power Team, Hyderabad, will install Design, Engineering, manufacture, Assembly, Testing, Erection, Start up, commissioning & guarantee performance testing of 35 MW TURBO Generator and auxiliaries.
Thermax Ltd, Pune will install Design, Engineering, Manufacture, Assembly, Erection, startup, Testing, Commissioning and Guarantee performance Testing of (4) Nos of ESP, ID Fan and Flue gas ducting work for 10.5 TPH WHRB and 1 Nos of ESP for 1 * 110 TPH AFBC boiler.

The Company is setting up a new Integrated Steel complex at Raichur, Karnataka at a total investment of Rs 473 crores. The Raichur steel plant will have capacity to produce 128,000 tonnes of Sponge Iron, 225,000 tonnes of Steel melting shop and 2 Lakhs tonnes of Rolling Mill annually. The plant will have 30 MW captive power plants. Karnataka Government has provided 165 Acres land in Raichur for this project, out of 300 acres promised. The new integrated steel complex is being set up to manufacture special steels mainly meant for automotive industries and is expected to be operational in March 2008. Construction work has commenced. It would also create job opportunities for more than 1200 people, mostly for persons from Karnataka.
