Aurobindo receives USFDA Approval for its Zolpidem

Aurobindo Pharma Ltd has announced that US FDA has approved its Zolpidem tablets in strengths 5mg and 10mg. Zolpidem belongs to the class of imidazopyridines (Medicenes acting on Central nervous system). Zolpidem is the generic version of the brand "Ambien" manufactured and sold by sanofi Aventis.

It is used in short term treatment of insomnia.

Zolpidem enjoys a market of around $2.1 billion in the USA.

The stock was trading at Rs.693, up by Rs.10.70 or 1.57%. The stock hit an intraday high of Rs.698.95 and low of Rs.683.25. The total traded quantity was 287 compared to 2 week average of 13987.
