L&T bags Rs 3800 million NTPC order for Coal Handling Plant

Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) has announced that the Company has been awarded an EPC (Engineering Procure and Construct) order by National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) for a Coal Handling Plant Package at its Barh Super Thermal Power Station near Patna. This is for the Stage-I (3 x 660 MW) of the power station.

The order valued at Rs 3800 million includes design, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the coal handling plant complete with civil, structural, electrical and instrumentation work. The order has been secured against stiff global competition. It will be executed by the Company´s ECC Division.

The project site is located 75 km from Patna city. Barh coal handling plant is a green field project and it is to be completed within 43 months from August 2006.

The coal handling plant package to be executed by the Company consists of a track hopper, 3200 TPH conveyor system, two reversible stacker reclaimers and two wagon tipplers. Equipment like paddle feeders, crushers, apron feeders, Grizzly Feeders, and auxiliary system like dust extraction and suppression are also part of the package.
