Indo Asian Fusegear Ltd has announced the extension of their BSES joint scheme "Buy one CFL; get another free" till March 31, 2007. This is in response to overwhelming public response and in reinforcement of the Company's vision to - "CONSERVE ENERGY". After selling over 1.5 lakh CFL bulbs under this scheme that purportedly would lead to a saving of nearly 10 MW of power in the capital, the company has extended the scheme to March 31, 2007 as another imitative of its energy saving movement.
Under the scheme, launched in association with BSES, the sale of CFLs was undertaken from October 24 at 52 special kiosks at BSES customer care centres and select cash counters across the BSES Distribution in Delhi.
The consumers of BSES have shown excellent response to this scheme. The maximum number of CFLs - over 55,000 of them - have been sold so far in West Delhi, followed closely by 50,000 in South Delhi. Most people have shown a preference for the 15 watt CFLs that are equivalent to the light output of 75 watt of normal bulbs, thus saving 80% of electric consumption.
Commenting on this success, Mr V P Mahendru, CMD, of the Company said, "We are pleased that the residents of Delhi are conscious about energy conservation. As they are substituting the normal incandescent bulbs with these low-consumption CFLs, this has led to saving for the respective power users of over 14 million units a year. I am sure that we can enhance the savings in investments by five folds to 50 MW if we further increase the use of CFLs. The scheme is underway only in Delhi for the time being. We will extend the scheme into other states in consultation with other State Electricity Boards and Distribution companies".
