Lanco Infratech clarifies on news item regarding acquisition of coal mines

With reference to the news item appearing in leading financial daily titled "Lanco eyes overseas coal mines", Lanco Infratech Ltd has clarified as under:

"Regarding the Krishnapatnam Ultra Mega Power Project, it was stated that the Company is intending to Bid for the Project when the Bidding is scheduled to take place in March 2007. In this connection, for quoting the input price etc., it was stated that scouting was being made for Coal Mine Reserve in Indonesia, Australia and South Africa, since the Krishnapatnam Project is based on imported coal."
