Automobile major Bajaj Auto Limited has announced its sales performance for May 2026, recording a significant 20% growth in total sales. The company sold a combined total of 4,61,257 units of two-wheelers and commercial vehicles during the month, compared to 3,84,621 units in May 2025.
The growth trajectory was heavily supported by a strong revival in international markets, with total exports spiking 34% to 2,13,226 units. Meanwhile, steady demand in the home market saw total domestic sales rise by 10% to 2,48,031 units.
Two-Wheeler Segment Shows Robust Gains
In the two-wheeler category, Bajaj Auto registered an 18% increase in overall sales for May 2026, touching 3,93,204 units against 3,32,370 units in the corresponding month last year.
Domestic: Local two-wheeler sales grew by 9%, climbing to 2,09,528 units from 1,91,412 units.
Exports: Two-wheeler shipments abroad jumped by 30%, reaching 1,83,676 units compared to 1,40,958 units in May 2025.
Commercial Vehicles Witness Explosive Export Demand
The commercial vehicles segment outperformed in terms of percentage growth, posting a 30% increase in total sales to settle at 68,053 units for the month.
While domestic commercial vehicle sales grew at a healthy 12% to 38,503 units, it was the export front that stole the show. Overseas shipments of commercial vehicles surged by an impressive 65%, jumping to 29,550 units in May 2026 from 17,930 units in the same period last year.
Year-to-Date (YTD) Performance Deepens Momentum
Reflecting the solid performance of the initial months, Bajaj Auto's cumulative sales for the April-May 2026 period reached 9,75,049 units-a robust 30% expansion over the 7,50,431 units clocked in the same two months of 2025.
For the year-to-date period, total domestic volumes grew 11% to 4,96,241 units. The standout driver for the financial year so far remains the overall export business, which stands 57% higher at 4,78,808 units compared to 3,04,083 units last year.
Breaking down the YTD data by vehicle class, cumulative two-wheeler sales surged 28% to 8,33,157 units, backed by a 53% increase in exports. Total commercial vehicle sales for April-May grew 42% to 1,41,892 units, propelled by a massive 93% spike in international dispatches which reached 65,242 units.
