City Union Bank Reaches 971 Branches with Seven New Openings

City Union Bank Limited (NSE: CUB, BSE: 532210) has officially announced the opening of seven new branches today, bringing its total branch network to 971. This expansion aligns with the bank's strategy to deepen its presence in its core markets while strategically expanding its footprint in Northern and Western India.

The new branches represent a diverse mix of rural, semi-urban, and urban industrial locations, tailored to capture a broad customer base ranging from agricultural communities to MSME hubs.

New Branch Locations and Strategic Positioning

The expansion spans four different states, showcasing a balanced approach to growth:

Tamil Nadu (Core Market Strengthening)

The bank added three branches in its home state, focusing on rural and panchayat-level connectivity:

Eraviputhoor: Located in the Kanniyakumari district on Marungoor Road.

Poonampalayam: Situated in the Tiruchirapalli district, strategically placed opposite the Mannachanallur Taluk Office.

Rettaivayal Ukkadai: A new panchayat-level branch in the Thanjavur district.

National Capital Region (Industrial & Urban Reach)

Three branches were opened in and around New Delhi to target the high-growth urban and industrial sectors:

Lawrence Road: Located in the Industrial Area of Keshav Puram, New Delhi, specifically aimed at serving the local business and manufacturing community.

Vikaspuri: A residential and commercial hub in West Delhi.

Panchkula: Located in Sector 14, Haryana, strengthening the bank's presence in the Chandigarh tri-city area.

Rajasthan (Western Expansion)

Banswara: A new branch at the Kushalbagh Palace Complex, marking further penetration into the Rajasthan market.

City Union Bank continues to utilize a traditional yet effective "hub and spoke" model for branch expansion. By establishing a central "hub" branch in major cities like New Delhi or Tiruchirapalli and surrounding them with smaller "spoke" branches in industrial areas (Lawrence Road) or nearby villages (Eraviputhoor), the bank can efficiently manage its operations while maximizing its reach.

Shares of City Union Bank Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs. 265.85 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 258.00. The total number of shares traded during the day was 431072 in over 9038 trades.
