BHEL Withdraws Acceptance for ₹800 MW Anuppur Thermal Power Project Equipment Supply

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), India's largest power generation equipment manufacturer, has officially withdrawn its acceptance of the Letter of Intent (LOI) previously issued by MB Power (Madhya Pradesh) Limited. The LOI pertained to the supply of critical power equipment-including the Boiler, Turbine, and Generator (BTG) packages-for the 1x800 MW Anuppur Thermal Power Project.

The initial acceptance of the LOI was recorded on September 3, 2025. According to the disclosure, the agreement was subject to the execution of a formal, binding contract within an agreed-upon timeline. BHEL stated that:

Despite multiple rounds of discussions and extensions, both parties were unable to finalize and execute the formal contract based on the terms specified in the LOI.

Consequently, BHEL formally notified the customer of the withdrawal of its acceptance today, April 17, 2026, at 16:36 hrs.

The withdrawal of this major LOI signifies a shift in BHEL's order book for the 2026-27 fiscal year. While 800 MW supercritical projects are high-value contracts, BHEL's decision to withdraw due to contract execution hurdles highlights a disciplined approach toward contract terms and risk management. This move prevents the company from being locked into an agreement where formal terms could not be mutually reconciled.

Shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs. 316.70 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 309.05. The total number of shares traded during the day was 976718 in over 13112 trades.

The stock hit an intraday high of Rs. 317.70 and intraday low of 307.40. The net turnover during the day was Rs. 305038699.00.
