Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited: A Milestone Year of Growth and Innovation

Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited (AWHCL), a pioneer in India's sustainable waste management sector, has announced a stellar business update for the fourth quarter and the full financial year ended March 31, 2026. This year marks a "Golden Milestone" for the company as it celebrates 25 years of operations, evolving from a modest startup into a national leader in circular economy practices.

Financial and Operational Performance

The company reported a resilient 13% growth in core operating revenue for both Q4 and the full fiscal year 2026. This growth was driven by a significant surge in the volume of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) handled across the value chain, reflecting sustained execution in a market where daily waste generation now exceeds 150,000 tonnes.

For the full year, total MSW managed climbed 15% to approximately 5.69 million tonnes. The processing segment was particularly strong, seeing a 19% jump to 3.60 million tonnes, which highlights the company's scaled capabilities in biomining and material recovery. Notably, Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) sales hit a record 177,000 tonnes, up 20% from the previous year, bolstering non-MSW revenue streams. The Collection and Transportation (C&T) business also maintained steady momentum, growing 9% to reach 2.12 million tonnes through new contract wins in high-density urban corridors.

Strategic Partnership with JFE Engineering, Japan

A major highlight of the year is the strategic partnership with JFE Engineering Corporation, a Fortune 500 company from Japan. This collaboration marks Japan's first Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in India's Waste-to-Energy (WtE) sector, significantly enhancing AWHCL's technological credibility.

JFE is investing approximately ¥750 million (~₹44 crore) for a 25% equity stake in two special purpose vehicles targeting WtE plants in Andhra Pradesh. These facilities will deploy proven Japanese stoker furnace technology with a capacity of approximately 750 tonnes per day each. The projects are estimated to generate roughly ₹3,200 crore in revenue over a 20-year concession period, with commercial operations slated to begin in Q1 FY29.

Major Wins and Future Outlook

In addition to the JFE partnership, AWHCL secured several landmark contracts in FY26 that fortify its competitive moat. These include two C&T projects in Mumbai with an estimated revenue potential of ₹1,300 crore over seven years and a new pre-processing plant win worth ₹330 crore over a decade. The company also successfully entered the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) business, monetizing 20% of its allocated credits in the first year of WtE operations.

With a 5-7% share in India's organized MSW processing market and a massive pipeline of renewable energy opportunities, Antony Waste is well-positioned to capitalize on government mandates for 100% waste remediation. As the company enters FY27, the blend of core waste management strength and high-tech energy diversification sets the stage for continued long-term value creation.

Shares of Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs. 503.20 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 500.55. The total number of shares traded during the day was 23177 in over 901 trades.

The stock hit an intraday high of Rs. 514.40 and intraday low of 478.90. The net turnover during the day was Rs. 11473593.00.
