Godawari Power & Ispat Subsidiary Inks Major Supply Deal with China's EVE Power for BESS Manufacturing

Godawari Power and Ispat Limited (GPIL) has announced a significant strategic move into the green energy storage sector. Its wholly owned subsidiary, Godawari New Energy Private Limited (GNEPL), has entered into a long-term supply agreement with EVE Power Co. Ltd, a leading global lithium battery manufacturer based in China.

The agreement marks a critical milestone for GNEPL as it prepares to launch the first phase of its 20 GWh (Gigawatt-hour) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility.

Key Highlights of the Agreement

Strategic Sourcing: GNEPL will purchase high-capacity 628 Ah Lithium Ferro Phosphate (LFP) Cells from EVE Power.

Contract Duration: The agreement is a 5-year long-term contract, ensuring a stable and reliable supply of Grade 1 cells.

Purpose: The raw materials will be used for the manufacturing of Battery Energy Storage Containers, a core component of large-scale renewable energy infrastructure.

Quality Assurance: By partnering with EVE Power-one of China's top-tier manufacturers-GNEPL has secured access to high-quality "Grade 1" cells, essential for the performance and longevity of energy storage systems.

This tie-up is designed to insulate GNEPL from the volatility of the global battery material market. By securing a cost-effective and consistent supply chain, the company can focus on better long-term planning and the rapid assembly of its BESS units.

BESS technology is increasingly vital for balancing power grids that rely on solar and wind energy, as it allows for the storage of excess energy to be used during peak demand or low-generation periods.

The move underscores GPIL's commitment to diversifying its industrial portfolio into the new energy economy. With the global shift toward decarbonization, establishing a robust 20 GWh BESS capacity positions Godawari New Energy as a major upcoming player in India's energy storage landscape.
