ITI Limited, country's first PSU post-independence and premier telecom manufacturing company has received a work order for Ice-Hockey Rink Project in Kaza, Lahaul & Spiti in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The value of the work order is worth Rs. 72.76 Crores which has been released by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Lahaul & Spiti, for construction of an Ice-Hockey Rink facility at Kaza Soma, Lahaul & Spiti district, Himachal Pradesh.
Under the awarded contract, ITI Limited will build a full-fledged Ice-Hockey Rink along with a 500-kW solar power backup system, as well as install CCTV cameras, lighting and other associated accessories, ensuring a high-quality facility suitable for both players and spectators. This project is part of the broader effort to develop world-class sports infrastructure in the remote high-altitude region of Spiti Valley which will complement ongoing initiatives under the High-Altitude Sports Training Centre scheme. With this investment, local administration aims to boost sports opportunities, promote youth engagement, and develop sports tourism in Lahaul & Spiti district, which is situated at high altitude of approx. 12,000 ft.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rajesh Rai, Chairman and Managing Director, ITL Limited said - "I am very happy that ITI Limited will contribute towards improving ice hockey infrastructure and facilities in Himachal Pradesh. Mr. Rai added -Himachal Pradesh is also very close to our heart as ITI Limited has been mandated to lay 20115 kms of cable in 81 blocks covering 3615 Gram Panchayaths of Bharatnet Phase-III project and has to build the State Network Operation Center (SNOC). Till date, ITI Limited has laid around 990 kms of OFC cable across the Himachal Pradesh", he said.
Mr. Rai further said - "With the improved infrastructure, continued efforts of all the stakeholders, I am confident that Spiti will soon be recognized not only for Ice Hockey but for winter sports as a whole".
Ice Hockey began in Spiti in 2019, and though it is still nascent, it has already achieved significant milestones, including winning multiple medals in the national games.
Shares of ITI Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs. 310.70 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 312.60. The total number of shares traded during the day was 63003 in over 1411 trades.
The stock hit an intraday high of Rs. 313.55 and intraday low of 307.30. The net turnover during the day was Rs. 19551106.00.
