ITI Limited, country's first PSU post-independence and premier telecom manufacturing company has joined hands with the Government of Kerala to launch the upgraded version of its online auto and cab booking platform, Kerala Savaari 2.0. The project was launched by the State Minister for Labour Mr. Sivankyutty in Thiruvananthapuram on November 4, 2025 in the presence of Labour Commissioner Smt. Safna Nazarudeen IAS, technical partners for the project, labour union leaders and the media representatives.
Kerala Savaari has already been made fully operational in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi cities. Kerala Savaari will become a multi-modal transport system app by December 2025. This system, which will integrate metro, water metro, metro feeder buses, autos and cabs, will be a model for the whole of India. The scheme will be extended to other districts and cities soon after its full-fledged operation in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi cities.
The Kerala Motor Workers Welfare Fund Board (KMWWFB), under the Labour Department, in association with the Government of Kerala, Police Department, Transport, IT, Planning Board and other departments is implementing the project. Unlike other online platforms, Kerala Savaari works on a subscription mode. This system of fixed subscription rates by the government ensures higher income for the drivers. The trial runs were satisfactorily conducted in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi cities from April 2025.
The project has already onboarded 23,000 drivers, conducted 3,60,000 trips and has earned Rs. 9.36 Crores revenue by drivers with an average of 1200 daily trips in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi cities.
Kerala Savaari aims to become a multi-mobility app rather than just an auto/taxi app. For this, the design has been completed which works in sync with the ticket booking in metro, water metro, tourism, temple ticketing, railway and pre-paid auto counter. Ambulances and goods vehicles can be integrated with this platform as per the rates fixed by the government. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Sivankyutty, Labour Minister, Kerala Government said "Kerala Savaari is not just an app, it is a symbol of the Kerala government's commitment to ensuring worker welfare and safe travel at affordable rates for the public".
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rajesh Rai, Chairman and Managing Director, ITI Limited said - "ITI Limited is delighted to partner with Government of Kerala to launch this commuter friendly online platform called Kerala Savaari in Kerala. Our Palakkad Unit has been helping the Kerala Government through various means like supplying driving license and registration certificates for the Transport Department, carrying out digitisation of records for the Kerala Motor Workers Welfare Fund Board, supplying laptops to Kerala schools and so on. This time I am glad that commuters across Kerala will be benefitted with this revamped app."
Mr. Rai added -The shortcomings in the pilot project launched in 2022 have been addressed and the trial run has been conducted in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi cities. ITI Palakkad Unit will provide continuous technical support to ensure smooth functioning of the app".
Kerala Savaari is a fully government-owned initiative implemented under the Kerala Motor Workers Welfare Board, in collaboration with the Departments of Labour, Police, Transport, IT, and the Planning Board.
