Hilton Metal Forging Ltd has received Feasibility & Production capability of Vande Bharat & LHB Forged Wheels development from RITES Ltd

RITES Ltd, the Indian Railways' premier quality assurance agency, has approved the feasibility and production capability of Vande Bharat and LHB forged wheel development by Hilton Metal Forging Ltd, marking a milestone as the first private MSME to achieve such "Make-in-India" recognition.

Key Highlights:

- Wheel formats: Each Vande Bharat wheel diameter is 952 mm. Each LHB coaches wheel diameter is 915 mm.

- Speed capability: The Vande Bharat wheels are rated for up to 140 km/h.

- Rolling stock footprint:

Government's Commitment to Modernisation:

- Hon'ble Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the conversion of 40,000 conventional Rail Coaches to Vande Bharat standards (LHB platform) in the next few years. Railways Budget allocation for FY2025-26 is ₹2.65 lakh crore.

- Hon'ble Railway Minister Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw has a long-term vision and strategy to procure 17,500 coaches for fleet renewal and expansion for improved passenger travel comfort. The manufacturing plan includes 100 Amrit Bharat low-cost overnight trainsets, 50 Namo Bharat EMUs for regional rapid transit networks and 200 Vande Bharat intercity trainsets in both sleeper and chair car configurations over the next two to three years, aimed at enhancing short-distance connectivity between major cities.
