BCL Industries has announced the inaugural ceremony (Hawan Puja) of the greenfield distillery plant of its subsidiary Svaksha Distillery Limited, in Kharagpur, West Bengal on 24th June 2022. BCL Industries has around 75% stake in the Svaksha Distillery subsidiary.
This new state-of-the-art grain-based distillery unit has a capacity of 200 KLPD to manufacture both ENA and Ethanol. All work at plant has completed and the company has received all the required necessary permissions for the commencement.
This greenfield expansion was strategically planned for various reasons like the rising , demand- supply gap of ENA and Ethanol in West Bengal and to reduce the logistics costs of ENA supply from the company's Bathinda plant to West Bengal. West Bengal is also deficit in Ethanol production and Svaksha Distillery will help cater to the demand of Ethanol in the state. Additionally, the location also offers easier availability of raw materials as West Bengal is amongst the largest rice producing states in India.
Furthermore, Svaksha Distillery also plans to start work for an expansion of another 100 KLPD of ethanol only plant at the same location once the production of current 200 KLPD is stabilized. The subsidiary has all the requisite land and utilities arranged for the expansion, thereby reducing the overall cost of expansion. After the proposed expansion plant of 100 KLPD is completed, the subsidiary's total capacity will be 300 KLPD.
BCL Industries limited is also undergoing expansion at its Bathinda unit by way of setting up another 200 KLPD Ethanol plant. The work for the expansion of the 200 KLPD ethanol plant is under full swing. After these expansions, the total capacity of the group will be 700 KLPD, becoming one of the largest grain-based producers of ethanol in the private sector in India.
