With a view to project India’s music, literature, dance, art, cuisine and especially films around the world, the Finance Minister, Shri P Chidambaram has proposed to provide Rs. 75 crore to the Indian Council of Cultural Relations to design and implement a programme to achieve this objective. While presenting the Budget proposals for the year 2008-09 in the Lok Sabha today, he said, “this is the ‘soft power’ of India and must be projected in a sophisticated and subtle manner.
