NCR-based O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) has been awarded the highest accreditation rating of "A Grade" by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), becoming the first state private university in the state of Haryana to achieve this prestigious milestone.
It is a remarkable distinction for a university, which is only 6 years old, having been established on 30th September 2009 by the Government of Haryana and duly recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
NAAC is an autonomous body established by the UGC to assess and accredit institutions of higher education in the country and assesses universities on a comprehensive 7-point criteria covering key factors such as infrastructure, emphasis on research and innovation, curriculum and faculty. The A Grade rating is the highest accreditation rating granted by NAAC, signaling the best assessment results.
A fully residential university with a sprawling 80-acre campus at Sonepat, JGU offers a vibrant and intellectually stimulating environment for students. Since its inception, the varsity has laid special emphasis on research, with its faculty members producing over 400 publications within a period of 5 years - 50% of these in international journals. The University also has collaborations with over 100 leading universities in 34 countries through active programs like faculty and student exchange, dual degrees, study abroad, joint conferences and publications.

Speaking on being awarded an A grade by NAAC, Professor (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor of O.P. It is a stellar recognition of the commitment and dedication of the Deans, faculty members, students, staff and alumni of JGU over the years. Professor Kumar also expressed gratitude to the Members of the NAAC Peer Team for their visit and constructive feedback.
Founded in 1994, NAAC is an outcome of the recommendations of the National Policy in Education (1986), which laid special emphasis on upholding the quality of higher education in India. The 7-point criteria adopted by the NAAC for assessing all higher education institutions in India are: 1. Curricular Aspects; 2. Teaching, Learning and Evaluation; 3. Research, Consultancy and Extension; 4. Infrastructure and Learning Resources; 5. Student Support and Progression; 6. Governance, Leadership and Management; 7. Innovations and Best Practices.
Expressing his delight at the university being accredited with an A grade by NAAC, Professor (Dr.) Y.S. R. Murthy, Registrar, O.P.
