Sterlite Optical Technologies Ltd on August 14, 2007 announced that it has received a contract from BSNL for manufacture and supply of high fiber count Ribbon Fiber Optic Cables. These cables would be installed in BNSL's Pan-India Optical Fiber Access Network (OAN). The contract is valued at Rs 380 Million and supplies would be completed within the next 6 months.
Sterlite is the pioneer of ribbon fiber optic cables in India and has supplied over 60% of the country's requirements of these specialized cables since Year 2003. Sterlite RIBBON-LITE Fiber Optic Cables are suitable for installation in cable ducts. These cables are ideally suited for bandwidth rich networks and are typically installed in the access network. The cables are designed to operate from -30oC to +70oC, thus spanning all possible deployment conditions. These cables provide an efficient means to achieve high
fiber density, as well as reduce the time per fiber required for installation.
