WISH Foundation and USAID jointly hosts the WISH Healthcare Innovations Summit in New Delhi

WISH Foundation and USAID are jointly hosting the WISH Healthcare Innovations Summit 2016 on 17 February 2016 at Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The Summit is the shared value platform for the healthcare ecosystem to meet, build, strengthen and partner to ensure equitable healthcare delivery at the last mile.

WISH Foundation is working in partnership with the Government of Rajasthan through a five year program that aims to improve the primary healthcare service delivery through public private partnerships and scale up of healthcare innovations. The program is operational in 12 high priority districts of Rajasthan and aims to serve 5 million underserved populations by 2020.

Mr. Soumitro Ghosh, CEO, WISH Foundation said " We want to create an ecosystem to scale up promising, hi-impact healthcare innovations, reduce out of pocket expenditure, garner partnerships, matching resources towards strengthening the primary healthcare delivery system. We will share our success story in Rajasthan and discuss the challenges which lie ahead in transforming primary healthcare delivery system in the Summit".

The public health in rural India is delivered through a network of Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) and their sub-centers (SCs). However challenges of shortage of doctors, healthcare personnel; inadequate management, lack of accountability and governance prevents them from functioning optimally. The PPP model for primary healthcare offers a solution to combine the resources of public and private sector.

WISH Foundation aims to build an innovation-led primary healthcare delivery system that can offer high quality, affordable healthcare services to help India meet its global commitments. India is a hotbed for innovations, with many brilliant ideas surfacing. However, in healthcare, there are very few of these innovations which have been scaled up. That is the big gap WISH Foundation, the philanthropic initiative of Mr. Sunil Wadhwani, the erstwhile NRI, the Co-Founder and Chairman of IGATE Corporation, has identified as a niche to fill - facilitating scale up of hundreds and thousands of innovations within the public health system.

WISH works at building a national database of healthcare innovations, implementation partners and impact investors. WISH provides financial and technical assistance to promising, high impact innovations in healthcare with an aim of building an equitable healthcare system, capable of delivering quality healthcare to the underserved populations in priority states of India. The Foundation aims to tie up with various state governments. It will further invite private funding via CSR funding programs, and technical expertise to improve primary healthcare delivery system.
