Clarks first made Goodyear Welted shoes for women almost 70 years ago. Now, inspired by our archive, the time-honoured shoemaker's art that involves over 160 separate steps and takes eight weeks to complete is once again at the heart of an exclusive capsule collection - designed in England, made in England.
It was under the directorship of Bancroft Clark that Clarks started making welted footwear for women. It was Bancroft's affinity with the welt process and inspired Clarks Senior Designer, Helen Richard Rees, to go digging in the archive.
The next chapter in this story was the discovery of the Saddle, a style that was worn by Queen Elizabeth and Princess Elizabeth during a tour of South Africa in 1947. It was then that Richard Rees set out to create a contemporary take on this historical icon, adding a touch of man-tailoring by infusing it with another archive style, the Wallington, a classic brogue, to create the Isabella.
The Isabella collection encapsulates all that is Clarks in two styles`, the Isabella Daisy and the Isabella Clara. Available in metallic leathers and contrasting combinations of bright and subtle feminine tones form the foundations of this collection. Black and white only enhances the sartorial splendor.
