Mr. Pirojshaw Sarkari, CEO, Mahindra Logistics Ltd.:
The Rs. 2000 Cr integrated supply chain and logistics solution provider, said that the prime focus of the union budget should be on economic growth. New initiatives like 'Make in India' will help achieve higher IIP growth and create more jobs however they need to be supported by strong infrastructure development.
One of the crucial enablers in the growth story would be our logistics capabilities which can be given the much needed thrust by granting the sector industry status. This will not only pave the way to a better regulatory and policy framework for service providers but also make the sector more competitive.
Setting up multimodal logistics parks with warehousing and transport capabilities will help improve efficiencies for the users of our services which can then benefit the end consumer. Implementation of GST and tax sops for basic infrastructure development expenditure would top my requests to the finance minister.
