UBM India, the host of the 9th edition of India's largest business event catering to the Indian Food market, the Food ingredients & Health ingredients 2014 (Fi & Hi India 2014) will be launching at the event, a 'one stop solution' book for the bakery industry detailing how to manage compliance issues with all regulatory requirements, aptly titled 'Handbook of Regulatory Requirements for Bakery Industry'.
Expressing his views on the release of the book, Mr. Joji George, Managing Director, UBM India added, "Amongst the various communities we cater to, the bakers' community is today, one of the fastest growing unorganized sectors in India and it's been our constant endeavor to engage and equip this community, with opportunities to realize its potential. The book launch slated during the two day bakery workshop would further provide a dedicated and compelling value add to the community, present at the event."
The book has been co authored by two luminaries, Shri. Prabodh Halde, Vice President, Association of Food Scientists & Technologists (India) Mysore and Shri. Sanjay Indani Joint Secretary Association of Food Scientists & Technologists - Mumbai Chapter.
Speaking on the soon to be released book, Shri Halde said, "Post a detailed analysis of the industry, we concluded that with the rapid growth in the fast-evolving Food Industry in India, Food Safety Regulations has emerged as a critical factor for business continuity and growth. With the recent change in statutory guard's viz. PFA to FSSAI, and the focus shifting to safety of food products, we considered it was an apt time to take the baton and provide, our readers, guidelines which is easy to understand and draw reference from."
The book is a first of its kind attempt in India to work on such sectorial regulatory requirements. Most of the information provided has been sourced from the statutory Act and regulations, with active support from FSSA and Legal Metrology Department.
While elaborating on the book, Shri Sanjay Indani said, "Considering that over 90% of total business is in small and medium scale player, it is very important for trade to focus on Food safety system in order to maintain Food safety and Quality of the Product. Hence we found a perfect opportune to launch this book during the two day Bakery Workshop which is being organized on the sidelines of Fi & Hi India 2014."
UBM India will, as special initiatives during Fi & Hi India 2014 introduce a two day complimentary workshop for its visitors, on "Basics to Bakery Modernization" with the support of Assocom Institute of Bakery Technology & Management (AIBTM). Conducted by AIBTM, the two day event aims at imparting the basic knowledge on ingredients and packaging of bakery products. These initiatives will arm bakers with everything they need to succeed - techniques and technology.
The Workshop is specially designed to benefit Small and mid-sized Wholesale bakers, Snack producers, Biscuit & cookie producers, Cafes, Artisan bakeries, Sweetmeat marts & shops, In-house supermarket bakeries, Retail outlets/Malls/Hypermarkets, Catering companies/ Restaurants/Hotels, Cash & Carry stores, Convenience stores, and Distributors/Importers of food & drinks bakers.
