Nanoscale Processing for MEMS and NEMS Workshop at IISc Bangalore on July 08, 2014

Being held at the CENSE, IISc Bangalore on 8th July, as part of the pre-ISSS 2014 Conference programme, this workshop, will discuss the fundamentals of MEMS, where is it used, and how MEMS devices are fabricated.

Not only an introduction into the process development requirements of MEMS devices, it will also discuss future trends in MEMS and NEMS micro & nano structures and devices. It is open to all those people working in industry and academia, with an interest in recent progress in research and development, plus future trends in the fabrication and application of MEMS and NEMS devices.

Speakers and talks will include:

- Prof Siddhartha Panda, IIT Kanpur: Microfluidics - an overview of various applications
- Dr. M M Nayak, CeNSE, IISc: MEMS for Space Applications
- Dr. S Mohan, CeNSE, IISc: Fundamentals of Sputtering Techniques
- Michelle Bourke, Oxford Instruments: Introduction to MEMS processing
- Dr David Haynes, Oxford Instruments Industry expert view on the MEMS industry
- Dr David Haynes, Michael Stokeley, & Mark McNie, Oxford Instruments Overviews of the many techniques for MEMS: PECVD, ALD, Etching

This workshop follows a series of very successful and well attended workshops that Oxford Instruments has held in the past 2 years, at IISc Bangalore, IIT Mumbai, and Mohali, where expert speakers from Oxford Instruments, India and worldwide delivered extremely interesting technical talks.

Prof. Rudra Pratap, Chairperson at the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, IISC Bangalore commented following the 2012 seminar at CENSE, "This seminar was extremely well organised with competent speakers covering a variety of processes and tools for nanofabrication. It is great to have high quality practitioners give talks and provide tips and solutions based on their experience. This is something that cannot be found in text books."

David Haynes, Sales, Marketing and CS Director, Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology says, "Our involvement in these events proves our commitment to our customers, and encourages discussion and cross-dissemination of ideas that will benefit all those attending. Not only are we proud of our high technology tools and superior service, but also of our highly experienced teams of technologists and applications scientists, who enjoy the opportunity to share their expertise at this sort of event."
