Views of Ms. Bhupali Gursale ( Economist - Angel Broking) on IIP Data for February 2014:

"The 1.9% contraction in industrial activity during February 2014 is a negative surprise as against market expectation of slight growth. Capital as well as consumer goods (both durable and non durable) have dragged the overall index substantially by about 400 basis points. Despite subdued 1.1% growth in FY2013, on account of the weakness in both the consumption as well as investment side, we expect IIP to report a flat performance during FY2014."
