Satyam Computer Services Ltd (NYSE: SAY) has announced that on May 03, 2007 the Company has opened its first facility in this port city, which is also known as Vizag. The 6.5 - acre campus at Resapuvani Palem was inaugurated by the Honorable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. Other dignitaries participating in the ceremony include T Subbi Rama Reddy, Union Minister of State for Mines and Konathala Ramakrishna, Minister for Commercial Taxes, Government of Andhra Pradesh among others.
"We at Satyam are delighted to benefit from the progressive economic policies in Andhra Pradesh, which have enabled us to establish this state facility," Raju said. "We look forward to leveraging the superior capabilities of the people in the Vishakhapatnam region, who will deliver world-class services to our clients around the globe. In addition, we are proud to have been one of the first professional services organizations to recognize this area's enormous potential, and are eager to play a key role in making Vizag the next business and IT hub of Andhra Pradesh."
The Vizag Center, the second Company's facility in Andhra Pradesh (the other is in Hyderabad), will employ about 750 associates during its first phase. Thirteen hundred more will join before Phase II is complete. These professionals will deliver a broad range of services, led by information technology and business process outsourcing for customers in Asia and Europe.
The Vizag region is renowned for its natural beauty, notably its pristine beaches and, farther inland, the rolling green hills and pleasant climate of the Araku Valley. It is an exceptional business location, too, said Srinivas Vadiamani, the Company's chief financial officer.
"These are a dozen engineering collages in and around the city, and we will rely upon them to provide many of the professionals who will work in the new development centre," Vadiamani said. "In addition, the cost of living is reasonable, making Vizag is a very desirable place to work and live."
