GMR Infra arm inaugurates MRO facility

MAS GMR AERO TECHNIC LIMITED" (MGAT), a 100% wholly owned subsidiary of "MAS GMR AEROSPACE ENGINEERING CO. LTD." (MGAE) is a 50:50 Joint Venture partnership between Malaysian Aerospace Engineering Sdn. Bhd. (MAE) and GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL). The Joint Venture was formed to develop an integrated, best in class third party airframe Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) facility at the Special Economic Zone within Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Hyderabad.

This facility was inaugurated by Sri Ajit Singh, Hon'ble Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Govt. of India in the presence of Sri S.Jaipal Reddy, Hon'ble Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. of India. The event was graced by the presence of Ministers, Members of Parliament and Members of the State Legislature, besides leading figures from the Aviation Industry in India and Malaysia.

MGAE has developed this MRO facility to provide full Aircraft base maintenance service infrastructure in India, and will cater to the maintenance needs of the regional and global Airline customers. MGAT will perform the Engineering & Maintenance service operations on Narrow Body Aircraft like B737 NG, ATR 42/72, and A320 family of aircraft types and on wide body aircraft like B777 & A330, in this MRO facility. The state-of-the-art facility includes 1 Wide body hangar (accommodates 2 narrow body aircraft alternatively), 1 narrow body hangar with 2 bays, and 1 narrow body cum paint hangar. At any point of time, MGAT can provide maintenance services to 5 aircraft simultaneously, with wide and narrow body aircraft configuration. These hangars are backed-up with the necessary workshops to handle aircraft maintenance, paintings, avionics upgrades, interior refurbishment, structural repairs, component replacements etc.

MGAT operations are certified by both Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) & European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and will perform Aircraft MRO operations in compliance with these regulatory requirements. MGAT operating out of the Special Economic Zone in an operational airport and strategically located at Hyderabad, Airline customers can look forward to reduced cost of maintenance and improved turnaround times, adding value to their operations.

MGAT has brought in an investment of Rs.350 crores and will contribute to the nation's economy by retaining and earning Foreign Exchange. Currently MGAT has created a direct employment for about 350 people, besides providing ample indirect employment opportunities leading to socio-economic development in and around RGIA, Hyderabad.

The GMR Infrastructure Ltd stock was trading at Rs.32.60, down by Rs.0.35 or 1.06%. The stock hit an intraday high of Rs.34 and low of Rs.31.90.

The total traded quantity was 19.50 lakhs compared to 2 week average of 13.33 lakhs.
