The automotive sector in India has been booming and has emerged into a truly competitive market post liberalization with a host of local and global players. OEMs and Suppliers have been developing and executing competitive strategies to get an advantage in the market place. India's aviation sector is also showing signs of a strong uptick. For aviation logistics players, India's aviation industry presents exciting growth opportunities in the coming years.

Seamless planning, scheduling, sourcing, supplying, manufacturing, assembling, distributing, servicing of these automotive parts into a complete vehicle is indeed a complex supply chain management task. This is also a source of competitiveness, profitability and differentiation that OEMs and Suppliers are constantly vying for.

Some of the challenges include growing product complexity, inability to forecast orders accurately, poor coordination across the suppliers and assemblers, lack of information visibility across the supply chain, no organization structure to synchronize supply chain activities, poor logistics infrastructure including road network to support distribution, complex taxation structure that distorts the supply chain across the country.
