Mamata announces 'Matribhoomi' Special Trains for Women

The Indian Railways will run special trains under the banner Matribhoomi Special for women during the next financial year. These trains numbering 21 will be run in the major cities of Kolkata, Chennai, New Delhi and Mumbai.

In addition, the following Matribhoomi specials will be run in the suburban sections of the major metropolises:

1. Delhi – Panipat, 2. Kolkata, a. Barasat – Sealdah and b. Krishnanagar – Sealdah, 3. Falaknuma – Lingampalli, 4. Mumbai, a. Thane – Vashi and b. Panvel – Nerul - Thane.

This was announced by the Minister of Railways, Kumari Mamata Banerjee in the Lok Sabha today while presenting the Railway Budget for the year 2010-11.
