Gale winds speed reaching 65-75 kmph gusting to 85 kmph likely off Tamil Nadu coast

The India Meteorological Department (Regional Meteorological Centre - Chennai) has forecasted heavy to very heavy rain at a few places with isolated extremely heavy (more than 25 Centimetres) rain is likely to occur over Tamilnadu and Puducherry during next 24 hours.

Isolated heavy rain is also likely to occur over Kerala, Lakshadweep, South Coastal Andhrapradesh and Rayalaseema during the same period.

Local cautionary signal number Three (LC-III) kept hoisted at CHENNAI, ENNORE, CUDDALORE, PUDUCHERRY, NAGAPATTINAM, PAMBAN AND RAMESWARAM PORTS.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea off Tamilnadu and Puducherry coast.

Storm surge of about 1.0 meter above the astronomical tide is likely over coastal areas of Thiruvalur and Nagapattinam districts of Tamil Nadu at the time of landfall.
