T Nanda Kumar takes charge as Agriculture Secretary, Alka Sirohi takes over as Food Secretary

Shri T. Nanda Kumar today took over charge as Secretary. Smt. Alka Sirohi succeeds him as the next Food Secretary.

Shri T. Nanda Kumar has been Secretary, Food & Public Distribution since July 2006. In his career spanning over 34 years, he has had wide experience in areas ranging from agriculture and food to urban development, textiles, mines, commerce and industry. He has also served as secretary General, International Jute Study Group.

Smt Alka Sirohi was Principal Adviser in the Planning Commission before joining this Department. She was in the Food Ministry earlier, from 2005 till April this year, as Additional and Special Secretary. She has held the charge of Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Protection in Madhya Pradesh government.
