Apollo Micro Systems Secures Lifetime Arms Manufacture License from Government of India

Apollo Micro Systems Limited (BSE: 540879, NSE: APOLLO), a leader in defense technology, has reached a historic milestone. The company announced today that the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has granted it a license to manufacture and proof-test sophisticated defense weapon systems and ammunitions.

This Lifetime License, issued under the Arms Act of 1959, marks a fundamental transformation for the company. Apollo Micro Systems is transitioning from a specialized provider of embedded electronics to an end-to-end platform manufacturer of complete, high-value strategic weapon systems.

Scope of Manufacturing License

The license authorizes the company to manufacture, assemble, and integrate advanced systems across two primary categories:

Category I: Guided Weapons and Underwater Systems

Missiles: Short, medium, and long-range guided munitions.

Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGMs): Laser-guided, wire-guided, and "fire-and-forget" variants.

Torpedoes and Underwater Mines: Light and heavy-weight variants for naval defense.

Countermeasures: Safety and arming mechanisms, chaffs, flares, and decoys for platform protection.

Category II: Aerial Munitions and Loitering Systems

Aerial Bombs: Precision-guided, general-purpose, and penetrator variants.

Rockets: Guided and unguided variants for ground, air, and naval platforms.

Loitering Munitions: Advanced autonomous strike systems capable of surveillance and precision strikes.

Strategic Integration with IDL Explosives Limited

A key driver of this new manufacturing capability is IDL Explosives Limited, a step-down subsidiary of Apollo Micro Systems. IDL brings critical expertise in energetics, including:

Solid Propellants: For missile and rocket propulsion.

Explosive Fills: For warheads, aerial bombs, and naval mines.

Initiating Systems: Precision detonators and fuzing applications.

The synergy between Apollo's guidance electronics and IDL's explosive technology allows for the complete, indigenous development of complex weapon systems, directly supporting the Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission.

Manufacturing Infrastructure

The license authorizes commercial production and proof-testing at two of the company's major facilities in Hyderabad:

Facility 1: Plot No. 8 & 9, Hardware Park, Phase-II, Mamidipally Village.

Facility 2: Plot No. 128/A, IDA Mallapur (the company's registered office location).

The company has a licensed annual production capacity of 1,000 units per category.

"This license fundamentally transforms our revenue architecture and strategic positioning," said Mr. B. Karunakar Reddy, Managing Director. "Together with the capabilities of IDL Explosives, we now have the building blocks to develop a meaningful range of weapon systems for the Indian Armed Forces and for export."
